Brooke Pennell is a Hawaiian island gal, self-professed gypsy, jewellery designing water-woman living a bi-coastal life between Hawaii and Australia. Born with salt water in my veins, she has had a passionate love affair with the ocean and the beach since the day she first met them decades ago.
She started creating jewellery nearly a decade ago as a part time hobby that quelled a full time lust for a creative endeavour. She attended the Honolulu Academy of Arts Jewellery School and numerous workshops, but am mostly self-taught. Her jewellery designs are heavily influenced by my Hawaiian upbringing, the ocean and beaches around my Hawaiian and Australian homes and the raw native beauty that surrounds me.
She's always stayed true to creating Ocean Inspired jewellery and feel my design aesthetic follows the ever changing ocean currents. She uses only authentic semi-precious gems, 14k gold filled wires and components and some vermeil charms and components. As with all her collections, she dives for, beach combs, or ethically sources all shells and natural elements. No live shells are ever taken.
Each piece is handcrafted by Brooke, and nothing is mass produced. No two pieces will ever be exactly alike.
You can view and buy Brooke's work at our Brisbane Market in the Brunswick Street Mall on Saturday September 16th 2017
